How Much Is the Salary of a Virtual Assistant?

When determining how much you should pay your virtual assistant, there are several factors that you need to consider first. As a business owner, you also know how much work you need done and have a pretty good idea of the estimate of cost you are willing to pay especially if the job is done to your satisfaction, without spending on extra expenses training your personal assistant or buying for additional office equipment.

That said, here are some of the important factors that can help you determine how much salary to pay your virtual assistant:

Experience of your Virtual Assistant
Just like hiring a regular secretary to your office, experience is essential. Hiring an experienced virtual personal assistant ensures that your business needs are handled properly. Knowing well about the experience of a candidate during the hiring process can give you an idea how much you should pay for the job.

Expertise of your Virtual Assistant
This is something closely related to the experience of your VA. But expertise is not just something developed through a long experience working as a virtual personal assistant. It also entails what specific field or business industry your virtual assistant possesses the expertise.

Fluency of your Virtual Assistant
This can be learned during the initial interview you conducted when you were still looking for a perfect candidate for virtual assistance. How she or he handles your conversations, answering some of your questions and queries determines how the person would perform handling your own customers’ concerns on your behalf.
Using the Right Equipment
Hiring a virtual assistant saves you some expenses purchasing for necessary devices and equipment. Prior to hiring a VA, you should know if she or he uses the right equipment to function best to your demands and other administrative tasks that requires advance technology. Conversely, as her or his employer, it is best to compensate with the best efforts your virtual assistant invested for her or him to serve you.

What is the Regular Pay of a Virtual Assistant?
Now, when all those factors above being considered, is there any set standard for the salary rates of a virtual assistant? This may vary from one company to another or one freelancer to another. But commonly a new virtual assistant starts with a salary of $12 per hour. It will, of course, go higher after a time and depending on performance. For an experienced virtual assistant, the regular rates can reach up to $45 an hour and even higher. But you will be paying your VA on an hourly basis. However, a virtual assistant from the Philippines, prices will range from $4 to $10 an hour depending on the experience and nature of work.

In my opinion the best thing to rate virtual assistant’s salary is thru their skills and experience. Other virtual assistant cost depends on their job description and work function. I read this article recently that there are four types of virtual assistant; general virtual assistant, article/content writer, SEO specialist and web development. If you are going to hire local virtual assistant you will spend more cost. Virtual assistant are all over the world, try to look for a country where you can hire virtual assistant for a cheap cost. You can also hire virtual assistant from job sites like monster.com and freelancing sites like Odesk.com and Guru.com. However, it won’t be very effective to hire the right person for the job. The best thing to do is test the virtual assistant before hiring.
