Why Creativity in Incentives is Better than Cold Cash?

A lot of companies pulled back a lot of incentives they used to reward for sales representatives in order to motivate their performance, like canceling their holiday parties, team building budget, company athletic program, annual bonuses and future salary increase. It started on December 2008 and then companies announced that they were not contributing their 401K plans and increases of commissions would be postponed, too.

This threatens to quell employee’s performance in the organization – from virtual assistant to inbound customer service and through telemarketing call agents. Little perks have a benefit and impact for employees which rediscovered by companies. In fact some employees might start to doubt the company instability and may start looking for possible new job or new company they think more worthy to stay.

The most effective rewards aren’t the expensive ones. These little perks such as onsite child care, concierge services and free massages, this benefits cost a little but they pack a big emotional effect to the employee’s morale. Studies show that cash incentives don’t stick to employee’s mind because they spend it to pay bills and after a while forget it where did it go. Companies can give a two free rest days or a bike. These bonuses mean so much more to an employee. A recognition can mean so much more to a sales representative’s moral than a simply cash award.

Here are the few inexpensive ideas to boost up performance of an employee:
  • A recognition award such as trophies helps the inbound call center representative performance in keeping moral up. Present it to an employee every week who led your team.
  • You can buy a Blu-Ray DVD for the employee of the month award.
  • You can ask your employees for suggestions what bonuses they would like to receive and pick one or two to offer them on the next month.

There are lots of ideas for bonuses that would increase the employee’s moral. No need to spend a lot of money to keep employees motivated but what is needed is creativity.
