ccording to a report from DZBB on Saturday, the four-year government-wide pay scale upgrading plan submitted by Budget Secretary Rolando Andaya Jr. to the House of Representatives on Wednesday would give the president a 100-percent salary increase, effectively making her P60,000 monthly pay jump to P120,000. The vice president, Cabinet members, senators, congressmen, and senior officials will also receive the same percentage increase. Incumbent members of Congress, however, will not be able to enjoy the effects of the plan because the Constitution prohibits them from benefiting from any law that they pass. As proposed in the draft joint House-Senate resolution providing for such salary adjustment plan, the increases will cost taxpayers about P109 billion.
